Amazingly, this exchange came from Tom/Lynette on the cast of Desperate Housewives. I never thought I'd be getting lessons in love from this show!

Well, the time has come. The spotlight has been on Pennsylvania for quite some time. It wasn't a day too long for me. I loved the focus being on the state I love and the state I call home. Whether they were in Scranton or Pittsburgh or somewhere in between, for the first time, I think the candidates were relating to me.
While my vote is 100% for Hillary, I will not throw my hands up in the air if Obama becomes the nominee. Truthfully, this primary season has given me hope that people care again. People want change. People see the destruction that George Bush and the Republicans have caused to our country.
I've been negligent about keeping my blog updated, but frankly it has been because I've been too busy. I've been reading to many political blogs and articles, watching too many debates and interviews...and most recently, I've been too busy going to see the candidates.
So here's a quick recap of what's transpired over the past month+...
Saturday I stood in the rain for 3 hours to see Hillary. She was phenomenal. The energy among the throngs of soaking wet supporters was amazing. I got to shake Gov. Rendell's pinky! :)
Sunday I got to listen to President Bill Clinton in a small venue with just around 100 people. I had chills. He was so charismatic and such an impressive figure. While I didn't get to speak with him or shake his hand, I do believe that it probably will be the closest I'll ever get to a President. (although I'd like for that to not be true!) Upon waiting for Bill's motorcade to leave, he rushed out the venue in the little town of Millvale...rushed over to see 85 year old May Mayhugh on her front porch. May recently had a stroke but is commited to voting today. "He asked how I was and I said I've been very sick. He gave me a hug and kissed me right here on the cheek," said Ms. Mayhugh, 85, who said she is a registered Democrat, and would be making it to the polls Tuesday despite a recent stroke. "I'm not going to wash that cheek for a while." Too see her cry gave me chills over my entire body! What an experience.
Monday was quite possibly the most exciting political day of my life. I went to the big rally in Market Square for Hillary. 4 hours downtown on a beautiful spring day. Bill kept the crowd at its feet for over 45 minutes as we awaited Hillary's arrival. To hear him speak at such great length (and at such a close distance) was something I can't quite explain. When Hillary arrived, the crowd went nuts! She looked amazing...refreshed...rejuvenated...and ready to lead this country!
My two favorite Bill quotes:
"One of the best ways to see what someone WILL do is to see what they HAVE done!"
"Did u empower? empowerment is much more important than inspiration!
Late last night, I spent 2 hours in line to see Obama. While I'm not voting for him, I vowed to check out the competition and see what the buzz was really about. While the rally at U.Pitt was nothing short of spectacular (and while Teresa Heinz opened up the show), my vote is not swayed.
Democracy is alive again! This race hasn't gone on too long. The attention from the candidates should be placed on EVERY small town in America. This is what our forefathers have fought for. The time has come!

Sadly, I'm waking up alone and nothing I'll eat today will come close to the above selections!
So the race is on. I usually try to see as many Oscar-nominated movies as possible so I can make educated guesses on who will win the Academy Awards. What a fantastic group of movies I've seen recently (ranked below from most-favorite to least favorite).

No Country for Old Men - Javier will forever give me nightmares
Atonement - my favorite line... "I'd like to think this isn't weakness or... evasion... but a final act of kindness. I gave them their happiness."
Michael Clayton - AKA Erin Brockovich
There Will Be Blood - Dark, deep, worth the time!
Charlie Wilson's War - Ironically Bhutto's father was mentioned in the film which prompted me to investigate who he was .... and just a few hours later his daughter was assassinated.
Juno - Great movie .... just surprised at all the Oscar hype!
The Savages - Hoffman and Linney are stellar as usual...but I don't think I can relate to what they go through in this film (yet).

Ryan, why don't you "soldier on" in Pittsburgh...

Actually, I wish I had a White Castle...and a date! Hell, who wouldn't want Candlelight and a 10-sack?
Great new signs. Great new street decor. Great old neighborhood!
The Ville is growing...vertically! What a huge swath of land this encompasses....it's quite the beauty. I can't believe they have one more year until it opens.
...maybe I should start clapping like this instead!
WOW. Not much else to say to this.
I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.

You should probably have it cleaned...
The Soup Nazi has come to Pittsburgh. Mmmmmm. After waiting in line for 45 minutes (it was worth every minute of it!), I ordered my chicken corn chowder.
"Chicken corn chowder. Entree. Orange. Wheat Bread."
The clerk at the counter was so impressed with my preparedness that they said "More soup for you!"
Munch even liked it!
Well, I didn't quite expect this. I didn't think we'd be here in mid-February with no clear Democratic presidential candidate. While it is unfortunate on one hand, I couldn't be more thrilled about the opportunity to have a say in this year's primary election! I couldn't be more excited...this just means 2 months more of podcasts, magazines, newspaper articles, debates and interviews that I can't take my eyes and ears off of!
I think Margaret Cho has a point...
While I'm a supporter of Obama's, I'm rooting for Hillary right now. My support for her grew exponentially this past week when I read this about Obama. While I understand there may be another side to this story...this is not the "change" I am looking for. Don't get me wrong...I'll fully support Obama if he's the candidate, but my vote is going for Hillary.
I'll have to give Obama credit for really empowering people...and pulling in quite the laundry list of celebrities who are also looking for change!
1. "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm
from the government and I'm here to help.' "
Ronald Reagan's famous quote, which has been often repeated.
2. "I just called the governors of the affected states. I wanted them
to know that this government will help them… Loss of life, a lot of
loss of property — prayers can help and so can the government."
Quote from President Bush yestereday, he was speaking about the
states suffering natural/weather disasters.

What an ironic Starbucks cup I get smack dab in the middle of my weekend decided by the law!
| The law, for all its failings, has a noble goal – to make the little bit of life that people can actually control more just. We can’t end disease or natural disasters, but we can devise rules for our dealings with one another that fairly weigh the rights and needs of everyone, and which, therefore, reflect our best vision of ourselves. | |

Isn't it funny when someone breaks into your email and deletes all of your messages?
Isn't it funny when you don't ever accuse this person but they act completely guilty?"
Isn't it funny when they act very concerned and say "I'd help if I could?"
Isn't it funny when you could have predicted this?
Isn't it funny when you aren't surprised at all?
Yeah, it's funny.
